Meet Virginia. When Virginia felt like her world was crumbling around her, she clung to her work as a coconut farmer to provide for her family. Farming had always been her livelihood, but during one of the hardest seasons of her life, it became her anchor.
Virginia faced deep emotional challenges and began to struggle with anxiety and depression. She lost her sense of direction and often felt as though she was wandering without purpose. What kept her going was her love for her children—she knew they depended on her, and that responsibility gave her the strength to carry on.
For years, Virginia sold copra, the dried meat of the coconut, but it was barely enough to make ends meet. Buyers often took advantage of farmers, paying unfair prices and requiring them to do the labor-intensive work of processing and drying the coconuts themselves. When Virginia heard about the opportunity to partner with Dignity, she was amazed. Dignity buys the whole coconut rather than just the dried copra, saving farmers time and labor, and offers fair prices that are higher than market rates.
Today, Virginia is deeply thankful for how Dignity has changed her life and invested in her community. She is passionate about the impact and has become an integral part of Dignity’s work. With a renewed sense of peace, stability, and purpose, Virginia is now able to provide for her family with confidence and security. Her dream of giving her children a better life is no longer just a hope—it is becoming a reality.
